How do you open the top of a Maytag Dryer?

I wanted to change the thermal fuse on my Maytag Model #LDE8200ACW, but I can't figure out how to open the top of the dryer. You have to disassemble the back of it first (where the knobs are). Then once you do it then the top part should swivel up so it can be removed. But like another responder said I think the thermal fuse is located behind the machine under the back cover...Good Luck...How do you open the top of a Maytag Dryer?If you don't know where the fuse is, how do you know it is bad? anyway, start by removing the front. the fuse is mounted on the blower housing at the bottom. What kind of trouble are you having? Wont start, No heat? Fuse # 306604 the fuse being bad will cause a no heat situation but not a no start problem. Other sources of a no heat situation could be thermistor, open timer contacts, bad motor switch, broken wire or breaker trip. Oh, once you get the front off the top will be held down with 2 screws. one on either side of the dryer apron. The front is removed by removing the two phillips head screws at about 4 - 5 inches up from the floor on the front panel. tilt the bottom toward you and it will drop off. A couple of wires will still be attached to the door switch so be careful.
