Renault Megane Coupe alize trip meter problem and conking out problem?

I have recently bought a renault megane sports alize 1.4 w reg. Great car but the trip meter doesn't work. No matter how long a press the button for it never comes on. I've tried changing fuses but nothing. Also it;s staring conking out on me, when the car comes to a stop it starts to judder a bit and gets gradually worse sometimes conking out. other times it just cuts out when you come to a stop. Pay about 30 at an independent garage for a diagnostic.
