How Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?

Hi all!

My left blinker isn't blinking anymore, and the right one just stays on.

I gave it a boot once and it started to work fine for a few weeks but has screwed up again.

I tend to believe its the fuse - but have no idea how to change it or what part I'd get.

Could anyone tell me where its located and how to get at it?

Ive got an 2001 Camaro RS V6

I should probably change the bulbs at some point but they work fine I think that they fuse just might be partially fried and thats why it wont work properly.

THANKS!

TimHow Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?my advice... start with the bulbs. If the fuse was blown, the lights wouldn't work at all...How Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?i would check the bulb first but your fuse box should be located on the drivers side somewhere under the dash and steering column.. you'll probably have to get down and kneel and stick your head under to see it. Look for the particular fuse [they should be labeled] and just pop it out, bring it to an auto store and ask for a replacement and just pop it back in. its really simple to change a fuse but i would double check the bulbs too.How Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?you need to turn on the four ways to walk around the car and see what bulbs ARE working(front and rear) change bulbs that are bad (if any) it might be the turn signal flasher.it's usually just below steering column, behind that panel. worst case senario would be the hazard/turn signal switch, under steering wheel,in the column. e-mail me again if you need. doug

Did My TV blew a fuse?

Last night,I watching television on my Magnavox 27%26quot;TV and it just turned off automatically.I didn't turn it off manually or put the sleep timer on it.I don't know if it blew a fuse or what? I am not a technical guy when it comes to electronics so I would not know how to change the fuse myself or take the TV apart{I am only 17.} All I need to know is:1.whether or not,the tv has blown a fuse.2.Should I pay to get the television repaired or should I just buy another television? Thanks.Did My TV blew a fuse?does the tv turn on still?

    how old is it?

if really old, not worth repairing

chances are it is not a blown fuse

tvs do not have user replaceable fusesDid My TV blew a fuse?More than likely, something in the power board went bad. You didn't state what model it was, so just a guess is that a repair facility could fix it for under $150. Take into consideration the low prices on new TV's these days, and you might be better off spending a few more dollars and getting a new one.Did My TV blew a fuse?Just buy another one.

Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?

    Hi there,

I have had a shower fitted by an electrician for a good few years now. I have had two units one was 8kw and the current one is 8.5kw. I have been using it but it cuts off after 10 minutes at the circuit breaker/fuse. I have been googling online about it and some answers have been coming up with about the fuse amp at the board and the power of the shower. I have the wire for the shower into a 30amp circuit breaker and the maximum load on the whol circuit is 100amp. I am not too sure if the shower is too powerful and I need to get an electrican to increase the fuse amp to allow for the 8.5kw shower. Is this possible? I am not too sure of the size of the wire supplying the shower. How much do you think it would cost for an electrican to come out and change the fuse or resolve this issue? I am a woman on my own and I am so scared of cowboys taking advantage and charging me a small fortune. Iam in the UK!Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?You need to have the actuall current measured with an amprobe. You can't just be putting bigger fuses on with out increasing wire size. If the unit says 8.5 Kw, I assume that this is 220 volt?

(Voltage X Current = Watts). Or (Wattage divided by voltage = current)

My calculations comes to 38 amps. If you have a 30 amp installed of course it will trip when the thermal overload kicks it. If the wire size is #8 AWG or bigger, you can go as high as 50 amps. But if your wire size is #10 AWG, 30 amps is max breaker size.

BTW: I don't know of any 30 amp fuses that hold at 40 amps for over 20 minutes. Wouldn't that defeat the whole point of circuit protection?

Fuses will take current inruse surges, but not running 30% over capactiy for no 20 min!Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?Fuse size is fine; Even though demand is slightly over 30Amp, it'll never trip it as the overcurrent is so low.

EG: A 30A fuse/MCB needs 45A current flow for 20 minutes to pop it..

It'll be a loose connection somewhere in circuit. Try feeling the temperature of the supply wires at/near junctions immediately after it trips (Don't touch anything 'live') . It'll probably looked brown %26amp; charred too, if you get enough confidence to take any covers off.Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?ground fault. drive in some ground rods and attach them with a #6 solid bare copper wire to create a cold water bond so that the ground fault can find the quickest path to ground

I have a fuse in my 2004 chevy cavilier that keeps blowing?

Ok so for the last month at least my radio fuse keeps blowing. I would change the fuse and then a few days later it would blow again. The dude at advance said that it was because I have something always running like a GPS. Which in my car isnt true. Plus the GPS goes into the cigg lighter, which is not the fuse that keeps blowing. Well yesterday it blew again. I went to change it and before I could even get it inserted it sparked and blew. It litterally melted part of the fuse and created sparks. I just need to know what is wrong and how do I fix it. ThanksI have a fuse in my 2004 chevy cavilier that keeps blowing?Don't listen to people at Advance. I hate that place. You obviously have a short circuit in the power wire leading to your stereo. If it's an aftermarket stereo, the source of the problem is most likely right behind the head unit. Maybe the insulation was cut by a screw or sharp piece of metal. Could possibly be the case with a factory head unit too. Pull your stereo out and see if you can find any cut wires. You can identify the power wires by the fact that they're usually larger in diameter than the others.

    Fuse box port is broken?

i just got my new car and the guy said my fuses of blown for my radio so the next day i went to change the fuse and the port where the fuse goes is kinda broken. the fuses seems not to be secure in the ports. its easy to pull out and the radio still doesnt work. how do i fix this problem. do i get a whole new fuses box or fix the portFuse box port is broken? You need to get a new fuse box or an in line fuse. If the radio fuse is the only bad fuse and it is not used for anything else I recommend a in line fuse. It is hooked in line with the power wire to the radio to blow if there is a problem with the radio or the wiring (short). In line fuses are very cheap and easy to install.

    ****cigarette lighter fuse????

I have a '97 ford escort and my lighter stopped working a while ago... i need it for my ipod/cellphone... can someone pls tell me how to change the fuse?

I don't have a car manual so i'm not sure where exactly it is or which fuse it'll be...

also where can i find new fuses and apx how much are they??

Thanks!!!****cigarette lighter fuse????if u cant find where the cigerette lighter fuse is ul have to go thru each fuse to see which one is blown its not hard to tell the difference, and once u find it it should say on fuse what size it is and just get new one....yeh there only $1****cigarette lighter fuse????when you pull the cover off the fuse panel there should be a sticker with what fuses go to what. Pull the fuse to the lighter and get a replacement of the same amperage. Should only cost about $1****cigarette lighter fuse????the type of fuses used are really cool designed on your car as well as most. If you look at the end of them you'll see a number 5a, 10a, etc. this is the amp of the fuse, on either side of that number are little metal tips they are there for you and I to test the fuses if blown. Go to auto zone and get an electrical tester(looks like a long pencil with a wire coming out where an eraser should be) the wire has a clip and the other end of the tester has a sharp point. it will likely have a protective cover over the tip to protect you from poking your self, the clip gets clamped on any metal spot you can find around the fuse panel (brake pedal may work) then you simply touch the sharp pointer one at a time on those metal tips referred to earlier. one side should light up and the other not if the fuse is blown for the cigarette lighter. some fuses are only hot when the key is on and others are not. on Fords you'll see the words IGN , ACC and I believe pos. Ign is with the key toward start, Acc is lit usually both ign and Acc and pos is always getting power even if the key isnt in the lock at all. hope this helPS. ps the fuses pull straight out and I advise a small fuse kit with an assortment for your fuse type it usually includes a fuse puller tool and you put the rest in your glove box for future needs.

How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?

Although the lights work (I can flash the hi-beams and the low beams are on), the actual switch won't turn the hi-beams on. I presume it's just a fuse problem and am loathe to take it to the garage for that. How can I change the fuse? How do I fix my motorcycle headlight? For future reference, always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.

Bikes use one fuse for the headlight.

If the headlight works, then the fuse is in working condition.

    I don't understand %26quot;I can flash the high beams%26quot;.

Look at the headlight bulb connector, to determine what color wire powers the high beam.

Using a 12v test light, check for power at the handlebar switch connector (high beam color wire, with the key on).

If no power - replace the switch, or open it up and look for defects. How do I fix my motorcycle headlight? As stated, it is probably NOT your fuse, rather, the switch. After using any recommended type of lubricating fluid, if that does not work you can (or a friend who knows how to use a multimeter) check to see if the switch itself is functional (see if the current is going into the switch but not out when in the proper settings for high/low beam). If the switch is bad, it can be replaced by yourself/friend or at a dealer.

In answer to your question about changing fuses, each brand of bike has fuses in different places, so check your owners manual or the dealer for the location of the fuses, then use a fuse puller to check the fuses. How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?if you can flash high beams it's probably a %26quot;switch%26quot; problem, not a fuse problem...

If the car is actually underperforming since the light came on then it will be more than a fuse at fault, and I know that the TDCi engines suffer from cam sensor, crank sensor, and knock sensor problems.

The crank sensor would cause a complete breakdown and the car wouldn't run at all, so that can be ruled out, but it could still be one of the others.

You need to have the fault codes read out and if I'm not mistaken you need to find a garage which has access to Delphi software to read the TDCi ECU.

1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?

I was on the interstate and afraid to stop so I kept running it...

Stopped by a mechanic the day before because my gauge said it was hot. He said it didn't look as if it was hot. poured water on it and sent me on my way.

I have a good water pump. radiator not leaking. changed fuses on fan belt. it is a little out of time but it has been for a while and never ran hot before. The thermostat is out so that isn't the cause. had the alternator belt replaced prior to it starting to run hot. Not backfiring but does lose power when driving. I do need an oil change but do not think that is the reason for it running hoe.

scared i may have cracked the head or whatever but need to know how to check.

Does anyone know what my solution may be. Need it fixed asap.1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?It would run much cooler if it had a thermostat in it. You need to make sur that your fan is coming on when it should , you have two sensors on your engine for the fan or fans, one of them turns the fan on as soon as you turn your a/c unit on, the other one turns the fan on when your car reaches a set temparture. so if you turn the a/c unit on a fan should come on right then , if it does then that sensor is good. You now need to let the engine heat up to see if the fan come's on (this could take awhile ) if it doesn't come on you need to replace that sensor, because if it not coming on it letting the1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?refill the rad with antifreeze and water, if possible, put more anti-freeze than water. see if that fixes it. if it does, you probably have a leak in your cooling system. the reason why i say to put more antifreeze than water is because antifreeze has colour to it. so it would be easier for your mechanic to find the leak than if it only had water in it,1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?check for a switch underneath the driver side dash.1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?1. Check your coolant level, could be low, pull the cap by the thermostat housing and make sure that it's full to the top that no air can get in, if it can then you want to squeeze the lower rad hose and get all of the air out.

    2. Check your oil level, also could be low

    3. Make sure your fans are coming on when they should.

    4. Pull your oil dipstick, take a lighter, and see if your oil will start on fire (oil will not, coolant will, so if it does then you have a bad head gasket.)

    5. Check to make sure your water pump belt is still there (if it doesn't steer hard then odds are it is, doesn't hurt to check though)\

    6. Take it to a mechanic and let them figure it out!

You never said if the %26quot;check engine%26quot; light comes on, but if it does, then do this: http://www.freeautomechanic.com/diagnost1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?First thing you want to do is check the oil. When you get it changed, have them take a close look at it and see if they see any coolant mixed in. This would be an indication of a cracked head or a broken head gasket. You can check the dipstick and cap. There would be some sludge. That doesn't necessarily mean it's from that (moisture can get in there just from the air if it's not properly sealed), but it at least gives you a starting point

You mentioned the alternator belt was replaced. Is that also hooked up to the water pump? I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the tension in the belt itself.

Be sure to get the thermostat replaced. You said it's out now. You want it in there.1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?your radiator may not be leaking, but it could be clogged with rust or dirt. have a radiator overhaul.

How do you change the primary battery fuse on 1998 f150?

I changed my alternator only after 1 1/2 years of replacing it. When I put in the new one, the battery was not being charged. The guys at Advanced Auto asked me if it was a Ford. I said yes, and he told me that I could have blown the fuse. If it is the Primary battery fuse, how do I know if it is blown?? Please help, I can't drive it anywhere to have someone do it.How do you change the primary battery fuse on 1998 f150?Okay, the last time I checked, that fuse would be in a box INSIDE of the engine compartment. Look near the battery first off. There should be a black box right next to it with white lettering on it. Those are the big fuses. Once opened, there will be a list of which fuse is for what thing. Remove the fuse and go get the new one. Remember to use di-electric grease when re-installing the fuse so to make a better power connection as well as easier installation and removal if necessary. How do you change the primary battery fuse on 1998 f150?Follow the main battery wire from the alternator back to the battery.. it will go under a cover on the passenger side before it heads to the battery.. under that cover (depending upon the year, there may be two.. a outer cover and a smaller cover where you psycially see the wires going in and out of that is taped) is a 175 amp fuse... it's about a $10 fuse... it's bolted in and removal of the battery cables to replace is neccesary

There are also a fuse from the dash to the alternator.. if that fuse is blown, it will cause same headaches...

Third thing is, I've had bad luck with some aftermarket alternators causing alternator light to stay on even as it is charging the battery among other things...

Check your fuses... then check the alternator.

Is it a fuse or light bulb?

two of my gauge lights burnt out and I was wandering if its because of the light bulb or the fuse. I'm thinking its the the bulb, because I changed the fuse and it's still out. How do you get to the light bulb anyway? Is it a fuse or light bulb?More than likely its the bulb thats burned out. There are screws that have to be removed from the instrument panel bezel. If you email me I can email you copies of the pages in my shop manual that show detail of how to remove the dash panels. wsevier@yahoo.comIs it a fuse or light bulb? Most likely it's the bulbs. I have some out too and they are a pain to get at. You either have to take the dash board apart or you have to reach way up under and feel for the holders then when you find them you have to try and twist them one half turn to get them out. Good Luck%26gt;Is it a fuse or light bulb?you basically have to take out the gauge cluster which means you have to take apart almost the whole dash. you didnt specify which car your dealing with but the newer wranglers its goin to be a pain in the *** to do because it will have so many screws to take out and all that great stuff but on the old cherokees you take out the screws that hold the dash and the just the screws for the guage cluster and its out. and then im not sure about the grand cherokees but i would assume like most of the new cars the dash panal is snap on and off so it may be easier. Is it a fuse or light bulb?It is more than likely just a bulb. However, have a mechanic with electrical backing look into the switch and pray that's not it.Is it a fuse or light bulb?Very Easy To Get TO The Bulbs. Take Off The Dash Panel. There Will Be No More Than 4-6 Screws To Remove The Speedometer Cluster. Then You Will See Wires Going Into It. They Are Just Like Blinkers. Just Twist It To The Left And It Will Pop Right Out. Take The Bulb To A AutoPart Store And They Will Give You The Replacements.

I have a 96 Pontiac Grand AM SE..I'm going to get a tune up..I won't need the air/fuel filter changed because I just got those changed about a month ago..so I would probably just need my spark plugs/wires changed? Also, I need a fuse changed...nothing major, just my lights where my heater buttons won't light up and it'd be a lot easier if they DID! so about how much would this cost me for spark plugs and wires re-done..and a new fuse? I live in Ohio and my car has about 125,XXX miles on itHow much would this cost? Tune up and fuse?It would depend on the engine size,a ball park figure;$75-$150.00

It might be more if eng.diagnostics are done be fore the work, because a

tune up may not be what you need.

Your fuse box will have a layout of your fuses printed on the cover.

You can find the right fuse and test with a test light. It is possible

that it may be a bulb behind the heater control panel.

How much would this cost? Tune up and fuse?bout $100-140, but if you are a bit mechanicly inclined , id recommend doing the work your self , that job on that car is very very easy, specially if its the 4 cylinder, the parts will cost u at auto zone about $40, and even the haynes auto book(repair manual) is there for that car and thats $15 and it will tell you how to do everything to that car with pics and diagrams, about the heater lights , sometimes they get loose , try giving the heater some love taps, the light just might go back on, i dont think its the fuse, i think its the bulb How much would this cost? Tune up and fuse? The spare part price of one spark plug is several bucks according to differrent brand. Labor fee is about half hour to one hour I guess.

I have no idea about your wires.

    It is better if you know the model of the fuse. You can ask %26quot;Auto zone%26quot;

the price of a new fuse.

i have a 99 mazda protege, and the fuse from the dash board lights and tail lights blew. i changed it about 10 times and it keeps blowing. also the radio will not even turn on.. im a female trying to fix it. can anyone tell me what the problem is? and about how much it will be to fix it and where i can get it fixed. thank youI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?Something is up with your electrical system... You need to go in and have someone look at it... Hopefully they will be able to just hook it up to the Dino and figure out the error code but either way... You can't fix the electrical system on your own.

I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?I wish i had a girl like your fuseI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?Well, the fuse is blowing for a reason. The trick is - to find the reason.

If you can, find out what else is on that line. If its just the taillights and dash lights then pull out the bulbs. Try replacing the fuse with the bulbs out. If the fuse does not blow then replace the bulbs one-at-a-time until the fuse blows. That will be your bad circuit. If the fuse still blows when you have all the bulbs out, you will need to isolate each line to each socket until you find the %26quot;short%26quot;. If it gets to be too much a good mechanic can find it in about 20 minutes. A bad mechanic will keep trying different things until he/she stumble upon the problem.

Check the fuse for the radio. There should be one in the fuse panel and (if you have an after-market radio) there should be another in the power line to the radio,

Good luck!I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?you might have some electrical wiring problems and may have accedentially messed up something when you were fixing it those timesI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?you have a wiring problem..theres either two wires touching or the ground wire is touching metal somewhere...

the cost...its hard to tell..it all depends on where the wire is bad at and how much of the dash has to b tore out...

you can take it to your local garage and get an estimate...I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?you have a short somewhere, they can be real hard to track down , better get a mechanic to look at it before you could have a fireI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?Should be a common circuit with parking/tailights

Remove the bulbs from the parking and tailights

    Check sockets for corrosion/bare wires

Install fuse and replace bulbs one a time to see if problem is in the exterior of vehicle - if not same procedure under dash board I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?Are you sure you're using the right type of fuse? You may need a higher gauge.

If you still have the old one, check the number on the top.

If you have a friend with the same car ask and check theirs.

Otherwise, talk to your dealer or a mechanic for the right number.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?You have a short somewhere. I would start tracing wires looking for breaks. Have you added any accessories or anything? Your radio should not be on the same fuse as your tail lights. Fords aren't anyways. I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?well if they blow once thats normal if they blow again then you have a short somewhere with one of the things that is not working.. any shop will do it but i could nt put a price on it unless i was working on it they go by time it take to fix it and what they have to do to fix itI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?Double check that you are using the right amperage fuse. If it's right and still blows you have a problem that could cause serious damage if you don't get to a mechanic.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?It is an electronic problem and needs to have the garage check. You can ask for an estimate before paying for the work. Make sure the estimate is given in writing. Tell them you will get back to them after you go to a couple other garages for n estimate. This will let them know you won't be taken as a female because a lot of garages jack up the price when a female asks. Go to 3 garages and than go to the one that you feel is the most reputable and give them the lowest quote and see if they will match it. A lot of the newer cars require a computer diagnosis to find the problem when it is electronic. It may just be a faulty wire.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?The only thing i can think of would be to get a voltage/amperage meter and open the car up and test the connections. Is the stereo a new one? did it come with the car? do you have other things installed/plugged in that did not come with the car. If you dont have a amperage meter and know how to use one you might have to take it to a local shop or a local highschool that has an autoshop class ( the teachers will let the kids fix it for you with no cost other than parts ). you might even be using the wrong fuses.

BTW: rishab copy and basted his post off another wiki site i say down thumb himI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?what's that definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result? sorry, just kiddin...

this is one of those rogue electrical gremlins that can be difficult to diagnose. You'll have to take it to someone or else learn to use a multimeter (it's not that difficult).

If you end up taking it to the shop, it needs to be a mechanic you can trust -- they'll be charging by the hour, and it could take anywhere from 10 minutes to three hours maybe more.

wish I had a better answer for ya.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?look in the wire harness to the tail lights, start at the lights and work back to the fuse box. You will find that harness in the trunk and under the carpet usually the drivers side good luckI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?Blown fuses are a Symptom of a problem, not the problem,There is a short circuit in one of the systems mentioned, a chafed wire perhaps. The parts that re most exposed are the taillights, look or feel where the wires come out of the tube if it is ruff tape it over with electrical tape. It is slow and tedious but rewarding if you find something.

How to change a battery fuse (black one) in my 89 mazda 626 . Fuse is located near the battery. Why it went bad?

A fuse is not located near the battery but a Relay is. Yes, the black thing is a relay, a switch- which controls the electric circuit, kindly ref : circuithttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switch. When the relay becomes bad then the engine will not start or the wiring system will not operate. So you have to replace it with a new one. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?

Does anyone know how a DIYer like myself can replace the consumer unit in my house. I have an old fashioned fusebox at the moment.

I'm confident I can wire it up properly but I'd need to know how to turn off the supply to the house.

Any thoughts. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?You will f**k up if you do this, to isolate the tails into your fuse board you have to cut and then open the meter which IS ILLEGAL if you arent working for an authorised person.

The cut outs are r at 240v 100/80/60A which will kill you on contact im not telling a unqualified potentially incompetent person how to do this job!How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?If you can't turn off the supply to your house then I think you need to get a qualified electrician to do the work for you.How to change a consumer unit / fuse box? You'll need counciling permissionHow to change a consumer unit / fuse box?If think that it might be worth ignoring the UK regulations and still do it yourself. Firstly you could have difficulty reselling your house if you cannot prove that the work was done by a qualified person. Secondly if anything were to go wrong and you tried to make an insurance claim the assessor could point out that you had broken the terms of your policy. He would just walk away. I could go on with lots of examples. Take the earlier advice get someone qualified. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?I don't know why some people get it into their heads to attempt stupid things. The work you plan to do is illegal, not allowed and downright dangerous. I get so angry with people like you. I have lots of thoughts but they can't be printed here I'm afraid. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?I think you will find it is now illegal for a non qualified person to carry out such work, any %26quot;accidents%26quot; will no doubt void your insurance. Use the services of a qualified ElectricianHow to change a consumer unit / fuse box?The UK building code now states that you need to either get a qualified electrician to carry out the work, or at least sign off the work as safe before you can turn it back on again.

If you do not do this, your home insurance will be invalid and you cannot sell your house until either is done. Either way, you can't change sockets in your kitchen these days without one of the above being done. My guess is, if you need to ask the question, you shouldn't be doing it.How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?You need to get a permit and call your local electric company to come and turn off your main. They will do the disconnect outside and will come back to re connect when you call them.

DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT A PERMIT AAAND POWER SHUT OFF!!!!!!How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?You will need a permit on this one. I strongly suggest that you get an electrician to do this work. If you make a mistake with the imcoming line, there is no fuse till you get back to the transformer and that is a lot of power to take to ground.

You will also void your insurance if you do the work without the permit.

It is a good idea, but hand this one off to a professional. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?I am assuming you are in the UK.

The consumer unit is the property of your local electricity company. As such, you must not do ANY work at all to it.

It is dangerous to even consider doing something like this yourself. You are neither qualified nor insured to conduct such work. DIY on the mains electricity supply to your home is a seriously bad idea.

You should contact your local electricity company and request one of their engineers to come out and do the work for you. They will assess the equipment themselves and organise the replacement if they think it really is necessary to do so. Also, there will be no cost to you for this service. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?Hire it done! How to change a consumer unit / fuse box? This is definitely not a DIYer project, first of all the power company will require a reason to disconnect and the finished job will have to be inspected, a licensed electrician is the only person allowed to do this change.Call an electrician!!How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?yes my thoughts are DON'T do it your gong to die. lol You must have a trained electrician complete this work.....How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?You can't begin to do this yourself you have no idea of what's involved.

Before a P registered electrician can even start on the job he will have to test your whole house electrics to make sure there are no other problems lurking in the wings. You need specialist equipment for this and know-how to use it and interprete the results.

That's why he spent years training to do this and had to pass exams on the way.

Leave it to the professionals, he will then leave you with a certificate to prove it has been done correctly. This can then be passed on should you intend to sell your property at a later date.

My advice to you is to get three quotes from known or recommended electricians.

Don't attempt it yourself you will only cost you more in the long run.How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?do not touch it.get a qualified electrician.under new regulations any damage to life or property will be your sole responsibility and you will be uninsured. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?Keep your cottonpicking hands out... you will probably end up by setting the house on fire and insurance won't cover you for being a pratt, get in a man who is qualified and sleep well until you are ninety with no fear of the little known god of retrebutions comming and getting you and yours. ELECTRICITY BITES.......................How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?if you are in the uk you must use a part P registered electricianHow to change a consumer unit / fuse box?Go outside. Do you see an electrical meter/hour counter. Big glass bowl looking thing. You need open the box its in and pull that out. Done power is off in your house. But allways double check to see if your safe. Keep house panel off when removing replacing the meter. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?Don't try it yourself, its not hard if you know what your doing but the problem is you must break the electricity boards seals to remove the main fuse which feeds the consumer unit. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?Changing a consumer unit is a fairly straightforward job providing you have some spare on the wires from all the circuits because you will find that a modern consumer unit with an RCCD will be wired differently than your existing one.

Having said that to complete the job you will need to have the electrical supply from the Electricity Board main supply fuse turned off, this is normally sealed. You can arrange for them to come along isolate the supply so you can do the job and then come back and reinstate the supply when you've finished.

The real problem you will face is that they will not re-instate the supply without a certificate from an approved electrician.

An electrician will probably do the job for about 300-00p which would include the new consumer unit

How do you change an electrical box fuse?

A fuse blew out in my house tonight. I noticed the fuse was tripped in the fuse box but when I tried to flip it back it sparks a little and trips back to the red.

I know how to pop out the cartridge that the fuse is in but I dont see an easy way to open up the cartridge. Do you replace the entire cartridge or just the fuse itself? How do you change an electrical box fuse?you will have to repalce the entire cartridge. make sure you get the same amp rating. they do make fuses that have the insides replaceable but you usually dont see them on a residential home. take the fuse with you to replace so you can match it up lowes or a home depot can help you tomorrow good luck :0)How do you change an electrical box fuse?I think usually you replace the cartridge. They are not very expensive just make sure you get the right amps.

The amps will be denoted by the number on the cartridge. How do you change an electrical box fuse?A fuse is round and screws in a circuit breaker is the thing you flip back and forth. Two different things. That is why it is very important not to listen to most people on here giving advice. If you are careful you do not need to kill the main breaker (all the power) first remove the panel box face plate (thing with the door on it) angle out the breaker (snaps out) and bring to your local hardware store match amp size and NAME of breaker box! Snap the new one back in. Good luck

  • How can i test which element is broken on my oven?

I have an oven unit that has a main oven and a secondary one with combined grill. It blew a fuse the other day when i turned it on and now is not working, fuses changed of course. SO i think one of the heating elements has shorted but not sure which one, any tricks of the trade to work out which one is blown so i can order a replacement? How can i test which element is broken on my oven?look which turns red when you turn them on.

if you cannot see hold your hand at each side in turn and the one that is not working you wont be able to feel the heat as much as the sides that are workingHow can i test which element is broken on my oven?use a circuit meter. you can cobble one together using battery, torch bulb, and two wires or you should be able to buy a circuit testing screwdriver cheaply. test the circuits one by one(when it's switched off!)How can i test which element is broken on my oven?Home electrics what a pain! Usually if an element blows, after changing the fuse it would blow again or the rest of the oven would work. If nothing except the clock is working, you may find the problem is something other than, or as well as something else.

Its all quite basic really, but can be difficult to describe to the inexperienced.

You need to UNPLUG it (sounds obvious, but safety first).

You need to purchase a cheap multimeter. Set it to ohms x 1.

Now you need to open your oven so that you can get to the switches. I suspect (as its quite common) that water has got into the switch, possibly when cleaning. A visual inspection will reveal if any switch has burnt itself out. If nothing obvious, test with the meter. If there is an open circuit, the meter will not read. With both probes across two points of the switch, you should get a reading in the on position, nothing in the off.

And you should get a variable reading if you're measuring across the thermostat. You can also use the meter for reading the elements. A good element will read almost short circuit, i.e nearly all the way over. A bad element will cause no movement. Hope i've given you a good idea of where to start, good luck!

Renault Megane Coupe alize trip meter problem and conking out problem?

I have recently bought a renault megane sports alize 1.4 w reg. Great car but the trip meter doesn't work. No matter how long a press the button for it never comes on. Pay about 30 at an independent garage for a diagnostic.

    How to use car defroster?

idk if you are supposed to defrost at a cold temp or high temp

does anyone know which is best?

and why doesnt my rear defroster work?

i tried changing fuse but it was a no go

and what are those lines on the rear window for???How to use car defroster?Always set to Hot.

You back off the heat as needed.

Depending on the vintage of vehicle,

Your A/C-Air-conditioning is used along with selector set at defrost %26amp; if you

wait 10-13 minutes for the engine to make adequate hot coolant to make

warm air blow on glass, the A/C will kick in as well to speed up the

    wetness on the windshield.

You need to remove items on the dash blocking the vents.

But keep in mind your running A/C when on defrost.

A/C takes 12 Hp from the engine to run it, plus the alternator

demanding a 10Hp pull as well to keep all this going with added fans.

You will want to select the heater position to %26quot;Floor%26quot; to shut off the A/C soon

as windshield is clear and dry to get your milage back to normal.

This has huge benefits keeping the carpets dry, and your feet toasty.

Don't forget about rear seat passengers feet.

Getting the heat down to the floor is a must.

    *

    Now for the rear window.

Picture the wires in your toaster.

These special flat wires have high resistance that gets it's control from a set timed timer relay. Factory sets them about 7-10 minutes being it's a fairly high load when you hit the button.

If it functioned, you'd see cut lines melt through the frost at each wire,

and then as the glass warms, it will blend in melting the rest.

If you see any of the wires damaged, then they can be repaired.

Sorry, replacing fuse is a good attempt, but the relay is

usually the problem for it not working.

I think they usually go for $30.

So your best bet is to run out prior to getting dressed, and fire him up.

The ten minutes he gets warming up is bare minimum and makes the tour first class.

This also warms the transmission for the brutal tour. How to use car defroster? It took me a while in snow country to learn to use the coolest useful defroster (think of it as a defogger) temperature and to scrape the ice off - at least if there is snow falling. A warm windshield tends to melt snow that hits it and builds up slush at the side of the windshield so you have to stop periodically and wipe it away. If it isn't snowing you can crank the heat up.

Those lines are resistance strips that provide the heat for the rear defroster. There is a timer somewhere (depending on your make and model) that controls the rear defroster. How to use car defroster?well frosting is an ice so i always use hot air it works for me hope it works, now about the rear lines in the window i herd and im not sure about this but i herd that they are strips that electrical currents run through to defrost the back window and that might be your problem with the back window defrosting is that the strip is broken in some wayHow to use car defroster?to get rid of foggy windows on the inside the perfect temp is right in the middle. for ice or frost hot. did the fuse blow when you changed it? if so, then you have a shorted wire somewhere. if not, then one of the heat strips on the rear window is broken (that's what those lines on the rear window are for). How to use car defroster?the lines are the defroster. Us it in the cold to get rid of light condensation or frost. You use it when you need it.

It's a bad bulb. If it was a fuse none of your turn signals would work. Your owner's manual will tell you what type of bulb to buy and may even show you how to change it. As for the fuse box, just look at the cover and it will tell you where the fuse is.Changing a fuse on my car?Actually if it was a burnt out bulb it wouldn't be the turn signal (which is the DRL amber light on the ion) AND the headlight. The fuse should be in drivers compartment otherwise it's the fuse box under the hood. If that doesn't fix the problem it's probably the headlight harness itself (it's a %26quot;multi harness%26quot;). If you can't do it yourself take it to autozone and one of the guys will probably do it for you for free (plus the cost of the fuse).

    3) After I finally disarmed the security system, I realized couldn't get the car to change gears from Parking to Drive.

    4) After some research, I realized that my horn fuse has blown off. (The same fuse is tied to rear brake lights. The car wouldn't let me shift gears while the tail lights are inoperable. Its a security feature I guess).

    5) Changing the fuse lets me shift gears and drive. But the fuse blows off the moment I press on the horn - And I am stranded again!!

    The wiring diagram :-

Fuse is serially connected to [ (a) and (b) in parallel ]

    (a) Horn Relay-%26gt;Clockspring-%26gt;Horn switch-%26gt;Ground

    (b) Relay Slave-%26gt;Horn-%26gt;Ground

What happened? Any possible fix?Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?A very strange problem indeed. I am not familiar with Hondas, but I would find it very strange for the horn and brake lights to be tied to the same fuse. If that fuse is preventing operation of your car then I would suspect a wiring problem of some kind (a bad ground somewhere as previously stated in another post is very likely). You may try disconnecting the wire from your horn(s) to see if that prevents the fuse from being blown when you try to honk your horn, then you know your horn is the problem. If that doesn't change blowing the fuse, then your problem is likely in the wiring harness where some bare wires may be shorting out somewhere, very hard to track down. Good luck.Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?Check that ground. Run another one if you need to...you might want to run another ground just in case. Simply splice another wire and run it to a piece of bare metal connected to the car. Check for bare wires anywhere along the route as it could be a short. Electric tape works wonders in this situation.Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?check your battery terminal connections. I had the same problem with my 2001 Grand Prix. It has a aftermarket alarm system no it. If the alarm system is not getting enough power it will lock up the shifter so you cant get it out of park. A bad connection will also cause your alarm to go off. Clean the battery terminals and the cables off.

  • Ford Fiesta power outlet?

I have a 2006 Ford Fiesta (5th generation) and the power outlet doesn't work. I was told that Ford do not connect the power outlet and that you have to pay 50 for them to connect it. Basically, how would I connect it (or change fuse, whatever) without having to pay Ford for something stupid?Ford Fiesta power outlet?Don't know who told you that but if it is fitted it should work as all the looms are the same for every spec of car.

Check the handbook for the fuse, there are two fuse boxes on the Fiesta one in the engine bay and one in the cabin.

Car decks not working. No power?

    Hi guys,

I have just purchased a new deck for my 99 Camry. While i was wiring the deck to another connector i heard a little shock sound. I connected everything, turned the car on, the deck didn't turn on. tried connected my stock deck back in that didn't work either. I am stuck now without a deck, new deck isn't working neither is the stock. This is my first time, not sure what i did wrong, maybe i blew the fuse. Not sure what step to take next, or how to change fuse :S

Any suggestions would be appreciated, CheersCar decks not working. No power?omfg... if u dont know how to change a fuse then u shouldnt be wiring up decks, wtf dude.

u should be banned from everything auto electrical. there is a fuse box either under the bonnet or under the drivers or passengers side footwell. i cant remember where on a camry but i assume its gonna be under the bonnet. on the lid of the fuse box it will tell u what fuse is what, so find the one for the deck and pull it out, look at it and if the metal on the inside isnt joined together or looks burnt out you have blown it, goto ur local auto store and get a matching fuse, they all have numbers on them so u know which is which. if the fuse turns out to be fine... well the youve done some damage and u should get it checked out.

How do i know which fuse to change for the odometer on a vauxhall astra 1.6 04 reg?

Read the manual. or look on the fuse box lid and it will tell you.

What could I do about my cold hearted, heartless, and a snake of a Landlord?

My father has been the Super of my building complex for 20 years. The former landlord passed away and we got a new landlord who is very heartless. He is very bold and nasty to all tenants you cannot ask him anything because he will look at you like you are speaking to him in another language. One day my father looked out the window because he heard the garbage cans moving and noticed a strange man cleaning in front of the building so he went down and asked him if everything was alright and the man informed him that he was the new super. He called the landlord and he said so bluntly that he sent him a notice in the mail that his service is no longer needed. Then he changed the lock on the basement door so that my father cannot get in the basement, because my father has his work tools as well as he change fuses for tenants and now no one can get in the basement if you blow a fuse. How can I get my father to realize that this man is playing him and get the landlord to be respectful to usWhat could I do about my cold hearted, heartless, and a snake of a Landlord?I would contact your local residential tenancy branch and let them know everything.

Also, keep notes of everything that this man does and if you can try to even record some of the things (like on camera or tape).

Your father also has rights as an employer, if he was in fact a legal employee.

You can also talk to neighbors and see if they agree with you. If so have them sign a petition or something. Get them to support you somehow.

As well, do not let this guy intimidate you. He is probably just a miserable man who has nothing good in his life or is completly unhappy. Are happy people mean? No.

If you treat this guy unkindly it will just fuel him even more. Let him see you and all of your neighbors being nice to each other and I guarantee he will feel crappy and very unliked.

Anyhow I wish you a lot of luck. What could I do about my cold hearted, heartless, and a snake of a Landlord?he needs to get his tools before they 'disappear' tools are expensive.

I drive a citroen saxo and everytime i try to put a new fuse in for the horn it blows instantly?

i have the ignition turned off completely when im changing the fuse so this is doing my head in and i have my mot in the summer so will have to get it sorted soon. any ideas why its doing this and how i can stop it happening?I drive a citroen saxo and everytime i try to put a new fuse in for the horn it blows instantly?Your horn must have a constant live feed. If this is the case you have got a bad earth on your car. The easiest way to rectify the problem is find the negative side of your horn and make up a patch lead to go between the horn and the car body. Failing this you need to buy a new horn.I drive a citroen saxo and everytime i try to put a new fuse in for the horn it blows instantly?1st disconnect the terminal from the horn, then try a fuse, if it blows your horn is ok, but would think you have a bare wire somewhere between the horn %26amp; push buttonI drive a citroen saxo and everytime i try to put a new fuse in for the horn it blows instantly?Sounds like a short circuit somewhere. You need to check all the wiring to the horn.

Is it wise to run a 9.5kw shower through a 6mm cable even though there's a 40amp fuse in the fuse box?

My mate has installed a 9.5kw shower and it kept cutting out as the fuse kept blowing. He was trying to run it with a 30amp fuse and only 6mm cable. I've told him that it should be run through 10mm cable and a 40amp fuse but all he has done is changed the fuse but not the cable. Any idea how dangerous this is?Is it wise to run a 9.5kw shower through a 6mm cable even though there's a 40amp fuse in the fuse box?For that size Kw shower using 6mm cable,it is supposed to be a cable length of 20m or less from shower to consumer, any longer then 10mm cable should be used.Is it wise to run a 9.5kw shower through a 6mm cable even though there's a 40amp fuse in the fuse box? That is highy dangerous and illegal since 2002 it has been illegal for DIY electrics a Qualified electritian must do it an issue a safety certificate.
