  • How do I change out the multifunction swith for my turn signal?

I was told it was my multi function switch, but they wanted to charge $300 to fix.

I want to do it myself but I do not have a chiltons. My car is a 1998 Dodge Avenger. It does not have tilt steering . I changed the fuses so I know it's not that and both bulbs work. The left light blinks like a flasher non stop the right works fine. Any ideas on what needs to be done??How do I change out the multifunction swith for my turn signal?according to all data you have to remove the stering wheel, air bag and clockspring just to get to it. You better take it ta a mechanic because its not worth messing with the airbag components if you dont know what for sure you are doing

Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?

to change my old fuse box for a new one. My present one is about 30years old and I think it needs replacing. Lights fused last night and it was the devils own to change the fuse..I believe more modern ones indicate the fuse that is blow. Am I right?Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?the modern ones do not blow but trip out, so you just switch them back on, however they are expesive, my consumer unit as it is realy called is fuses and I would not part with it for the world, the new units trip out at the slighest thing such as a bulb blowing, they often trip due to strip lighting and washing machines even though there is nothing wrong, I am an electrical engineer and thus have considerable experience, personally if you have poblems with your fuses just buy a few spare fuse holders etc and at your leisure rewire them with the fuse wire ready in case you need them. by the way if your house wiring is 30 years old the chances are you could well need a rewire. you really should have your wiring checked every five years. Lots of the guys doing that kind of work insist you change your consumer unit (fuse box,) if you do rewire then its best you do change it as it will be compulsary then.

If you are looking at a full reqire you are looking at anything from about 600 upwards in to the thousands.

for a new consumer unit (fuse box) an electrician will buy it for about 40 plus vat and each trip in it will be about 25 ( each trip is what they call a way, each way is where each of your fuses are now so if you have say a six way consumer unit you have six fuses in it. so six times 25 for the trips and about 40 for the unit, then there is labour to fit.

I hope I have been of some help

remember your fuse box as you call it is the house holders insurance against fire really for the fuses go before damage is done. thats the theory anyway . Take careReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?Well modern fuse boxes, don't use fuses. :)

They have trip switches, so if one goes you just flip the switch back up.

    How much it cost?

    1. Can you Do It Yourself?, if so -%26gt; not that much.

    2. Get someone in, well how long is a piece of string.!Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?I doubt you can even BUY a fuse box anymore.

You will have to go to a circuit breaker box. they have magnetic

trip switches that you put in them. I think you will need a licensed electrician to do that work because of insurance problems, plus it has to be certified before you can sell your house.

not sure about that last part. better check that.

tomReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?It can get pretty costly replacing an old fuse box with a circuit breaker system .Ask around you may find someone who does it on the side ...Check Homedepot.com or lowes.com for the cost of circuit breaker box . Modern breaker trip off like a light switchReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?To change an old rewireable type 'fuse box' to a modern 'split' consumer unit, with e.g. 8 circuit breakers and an RCD for sockets would cost appx. 170.00-250.00 + vat. Depends on the brand of equipment and other things that may be reqd. for example upgrading of earthing and supply tails to meter. Not really a diy job, especially in England with Part P regs.Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?Hi, you'll need to fit a RCB/D consumer unit. A split one ( with the breakers is about 100. labour is a day if there are no problems - 150

Bear in mind that RCD with earth leakage may uncover earth leakage problems in yuor house that a fuse box will not find, you'll need to wait and see. These are often where the neutral is touching earth somewhere, or your shower/imersion/cooker element. But once they appear, they will need fixing as the RCD will trip out ith these faults.

Good look, house wiring should be changed every 20 years so its about time this was looked at as well, you can do the job seperate to the consumer uit at a later date if needed ( normally co-incide with when you want to redecorate.

You cannot change the consumer unit ypurself (unless you know how to comply with part p ) , this is now notifiable work under part P regulations. Your local planning office can give you more infor about their part p planning requirementsReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?It sounds like what you need is a distribution box with circuit breakers. They trip off when they detect a short circuit and can be reset when the short is gone.

The cost is dependent on the size (Amp. Service) and installation.

Please get some expert advice. All it takes is one mistake around electricity and it could be your last.Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?We had someone come give us an estimate to replace ours. The estimate about $2,000 in Charlotte, NC. Of course anytime you call someone out of the book, you get a ridiculous estimate.

Have a Panasonic head unit in my car, where is fuse located?

Panasonic head unit won't power on, for the past few days it wouldn't turn on and I figured I'd check the fuse first, but I don't know where it is. I took the face place off but I figure it's behind the whole unit? How do I get it out to change the fuse?

P.S. I'm a 17 year old girl and I'd rather do it myself then taking it to audio express, etc.Have a Panasonic head unit in my car, where is fuse located? What model Panasonic? What kind of car? Did you install the HU yourself? Did you recheck all the wires?

Edit and/or answer and we can help you more.Have a Panasonic head unit in my car, where is fuse located?I dont knowHave a Panasonic head unit in my car, where is fuse located? The head unit will need to come out. you need special 'keys' to do so. How do i change a turning signal bulb in my car?

I have a 2002 dodge neon and one of the rear turning signals stopped working yesterday ... so the front one is blinking out of control. I changed the fuses for the lights so im sure its the bulb but i dont know how to change it.How do i change a turning signal bulb in my car?Open your trunk and see if you can access the back of the light from there. If so, you might need to pull back the molding and/or carpet. Once you find the back of the light, there will be a plastic housing with wires coming out that holds the light and holds it in place. You'll need to give it about a quarter turn and it should come right out. From there, just remove the blinker bulb (the yellow one), buy a new one, and reverse the process. How do i change a turning signal bulb in my car?take a look at the housing around the bulb and see if there are screws u can loosen. go to an auto parts store and tell them the year, make and model of the car as well as the bulb purpose. i did this recently with my van and it was easyHow do i change a turning signal bulb in my car?most two filiment bulbs, are gotten at by a coupple different methods.

How can I test if household fuse is still working?

I got a second hand lamp and it didn't work even when I changed the bulb. Then I tried changing the fuse in the plug, but the fuses I have had at home for years may be old ones, in fact they may be dud!. Is there any way of testing them to see if they still work? Every time this happens I buy new ones but the ones that are left over go in the box with the others and I don't know which work and which don't! Yes I know the system I have is useless, but if I could just test them all!?!How can I test if household fuse is still working?take a 9V battery ant put it on ur toung then bridge it w/ teh fuze and see if it still tickles ur tound, if theres no tickling u got a busted fuzeHow can I test if household fuse is still working? You can buy a fuse tester at the hardware store for a few bucks. How can I test if household fuse is still working?Take the fuse out of something you know is working !!How can I test if household fuse is still working?lick it

place the fuse in a dry area someplace easy to find and that it will not fall. How can I test if household fuse is still working?fuses don't get old and quit working. They're either good or they're not.

You should be able to look through the clear portion of the fuse and see if the filament is solid, or burned. They are designed to %26quot;blow%26quot; (melt) in the middle where they are the thinnest. If the filament is solid, the fuse is good.

If you have a second hand lamp that doesn't work, plug something that DOES work into the same plug and see if that item works. If it does, then you may have a bad plug on the lamp, broken wire on the lamp, bad light socket on the lamp or even a bad switch.

Maybe that's why it's second hand. How can I test if household fuse is still working?yes some screw drivers have a fuse tester built in xxHow can I test if household fuse is still working?Swap all your suspect ones, one at a time in the plug of a lamp that you know is working. If the lamp works the fuse is ok. Throw away all the old ones, and put the original back into the lamp plug. Make sure that you use the correct fuse rating, usually 13a brown and 3 amp red, but also 2/5/10 amp are available. Make sure they are good quality, they should be marked BS1362, and the amperage.

You can also buy a simple fuse tester in most electrical shops or Maplins, only about 2.00How can I test if household fuse is still working?first make sure the light bulb is working then test your fuses by putting them in the same plug if the light does not come on discard that fuse and put another one in the plug if it works put it back in your box do this with all the fuses you have, no matter if they are 3 or15 amp. its only a fuse test when you have finished make sure you only use a 3 or5 amp for the light, 13 amp for all other appliences central heating is also only 3 amp and that is important. How can I test if household fuse is still working?Test the fuse in something you are sure is in working order.

I took a lamp to bits one day, changed the fuse, the plug, and rewired the top bit, only to find out the new bulb i had used wasn't working!!!! LOLHow can I test if household fuse is still working? There should be a clear window in the fuse, with a little gray band in it. If the band, which is the fuse, is broken, or burnt looking, the fuse is bad. If you don't have the kind of fuses that have the band, take them to a hardware store to have them tested. It should be free. DO NOT swith fuses around! You may well blow them, or get hurt, if you choose the wrong receptacle. Next time, try to buy breakers that are used in the old fuse receptacles. And save up to get your electrical updated.

    Best of luck!

Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala?

It's hard enough getting the fuse panel open, but the fuses themselves are these big grey boxes. Do they come off or do I have to have it professionally done?Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala? There is a little fuse at the underhood fuse box. The grey boxes are relays and there is a silver box to check which is a circuit breaker. Just wiggle them out to remove them. Check the underhood fuse block-look for 'RT I/P #3'-this fuse controls the rear defogger. There is also a circuit breaker at the right side fuse block in the instrument panel. Open the passenger front door, pull the side dash cover off and look for REAR DEFOG BRKR. You can swap it with the breaker above it to see if it's the breaker that is bad. There is also a REAR DEFOG RELAY to the left of the breaker. Put your finger on it and turn the defogger on and off and see if you can feel it 'clicking'. If you can then the relay should be OK. Hope this helps.Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala?they might be the same as my olds, its those little spade type fuses, just pull it out and put a new 1 in.Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala? Are you speaking of the under hood fuses or the inside fuse panel, the underhand fuses are for more heavy duty stuff, the defogger fuse would be under the dash somewhere on the inside fuse panel, those are small fuses you just pull out with your fingers or a fuse puller

How does one prove damage caused by the power company?

As an addition to two of my other questions that are currently predominating my spare time,if the power company has problems with the people they are contracting power from on the high side supply transformer and are changing fuses (to which they admit when my father called), switching the power on and off for the entire region, and a person -my father- witnesses the result (the tower jumping, crackling and sparking) and then calls to inquire and it is verified that they are doing maintenance at the substation, can the power company be held liable for damages to the computer (motherboard, processor, power supply, hard drive and supplies used to recover data)? The power co.'s liability department/HR person wrote a letter stating that this had occurred, but that they are not responsible for the %26quot;act of god%26quot; caveat or other variations (pretty much anything). I'm maintaining that I think it was their maintenance not some unforeseen or unpredictable acts. How does one prove damage caused by the power company? You should contact a local electrician who can examine any damaged wiring or appliances and serve as an expert, and, further, assuming the electrician's analysis is the same as yours, explore suing the electric company. For that, you should consult a local attorney. How does one prove damage caused by the power company?Three steps.

First, you need to prove that damage occurred. That's a matter of being able to demonstrate objective harm/loss.

Second, you need to prove causality -- the harm was the result of (was caused by) something the power company did or did not do.

Third, you need to prove either that the power company acted intentionally to cause that harm, or acted negligently by failing to do something that it should have to avoid the harm. How does one prove damage caused by the power company?it's hard to prove it.......any outsider cabn look at this and will point the finger at the power company....but to go after them for damages you will need hard proof....like if you have that conversation taped where they say they were conducting maintenance

  • How much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?

My son's friend is an electrician and said it would cost $5,000 to change our fuse boxes to breakers. Our electrical company would need to put another wire into our home as well but I believe there is no charge for that. Please help. I've had one person tell me that it shouldn't cost this much. Thank you.How much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?Your son's friend is looking to take advantage. The breaker boxes are not very expensive. To get an idea on cost go to the Lowes or Home Depot web sites or visit the stores. The most expensive part of the change would be labor. Realistically you should be looking at around $2000.00 - $2500.00 to replace three boxes. I suggest you get three or four separate estimates from licensed electrical contractors. How much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?$5,000 might be a little high, but it's a good ballpark figure. The real driver will be what's needed to bring your house up to code. If you don't already have a three-wire system, go ahead and get the $5K ready. To rewire an entire house is BIG BUCKS. Remember, building/electrical codes are the driver here.

Good luckHow much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?Fee depends on where you are and what is involved. Look in the yellow pages for electrical supply houses, ask for someone in inside sales (they know the work of the contractors) and have them give you some names for estimates. You can check your local Home Depot for the cost of a service, a Meter/Main/Distribution all in one, is the most price effective, just a starting point %26amp; the best way to go if you have the room. Better to check it out first, many contractors will give free estimates.

How do I change the main fuse in a 1991 Mazda 323?

jumper cables/terminals mismatched during a jump, pretty sure i just need to replace the main fuse. what tools do i need and instructions, please? How do I change the main fuse in a 1991 Mazda 323?It is under the hood, inside the fuse box on the right side I believe. It is the 80 amp one.

Instructions say to disconnect the negative pole and that there are two bolts retaining it. if so they are either a 6, or 8 mm. I don't think they could be any bigger.

How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata?

i am a girl so i know nothing about working on my car. I know however that the 80A fuse is bad and i need to replace it. I know its under the hood and in the little fuse box. but how do i actually replace it??? is it bolted in? do i need to unhook the battery? How do i go about fixing my problem? How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata? Before you go any further WHY did an 80A fuse blow?

If it was something you did such as jump starting the car the wrong way then there's a good chance you may have some other components that are damaged. Get it looked at professionally so it doesn't start a fire or leave you stranded somewhere.

If you don't know why it blew, then don't touch it as it would just blow again to protect your car.

Otherwise, the 80A fuse is a large one, it is screwed in, and yes the battery should be disconnected when it is replaced AFTER the cause of the blow has been solved. How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata? You have no guy friends to help ya?? You need to look at the back of the lid to the fuse box. Trace down what fuse it is. It'll say 80A if it's an 80A fuse. Anyways look and see if it's got screws holding it in. If it's 80Amps it may possibly be a bigger fuse. If not then take some needle nose pliers and pull it out and replace it. No need to disconnect battery. How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata?you gotta find out what the fuse blew, it probably touching metal somewhere, the 80A fuse are the special type of fuse, they aint cheap and can only get at specific locations, if you dont find out why the fuse has fry, it gonna keep on happening again and again, gotta find the source that trigger

Can some car smart person help? Thanks! ;)Why is my air conditioning fuse keep breaking in my car? There is a short circuit or overload in the system somewhere. It would be best to have it checked out by a competent service person before greater damage is done and greater expense created. Sometimes simple things can be the root of the problem. Also, in maintenance manuals , available at parts stores for about $15 , they have a troubleshooting section on a/c. Your library may have a copy most do.Why is my air conditioning fuse keep breaking in my car? It's always possible that the resettable circuit breaker you keep resetting is bad, but more likely there's an electrical short circuit maybe at your A/C compressor's clutch solenoid coil. Test that theory by disconnecting the electrical connector at the clutch (the thing that has the A/C belt threaded around it) and if the circuit breaker doesn't trip, you need a new clutch most likely. Obviously you do not want to put your hands down into a running engine, so always make sure the engine is off before attempting to disconnect the connector. You may have to have a shop technician help you unlock the connector pins to slide it off.Why is my air conditioning fuse keep breaking in my car?sounds like u have a electircal issue with a/c the fuse is a safty fpr the sytem it keeps popping to protect systemWhy is my air conditioning fuse keep breaking in my car?compressor relay or compressor ng...go to shop..repair is above ur pay grade

You gotta get TIME DELAY fuses...get them from the manufacturer....How do i stop my tv from blowing the fuse? You might want to change the location of the tv so that it is on another circuit breaker. Each breaker can only work with so much electricity being used. I would check your fuse box to see what each one covers and figure out where you can put your tv.How do i stop my tv from blowing the fuse?I PRESUME YOU MEAN THE FUSE INSIDE THE TV AND NOT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER . IF SO MOST LIKELY HEAT , PUT A FAN WHERE IT CAN KEEP IT COOLER . IF YOU HAVE IT ON A LIGHT EXTENSION CORD , UP GRADE THE WIRE SIZE OR PLUG STRAIGHT INTO THE RECEPTACLEHow do i stop my tv from blowing the fuse? You're replacing the fuse because, like you say, you need to fix the problem with the set. Obviously, there is an intermittent problem in the set that may need a tv tech.

Normally a short is the cause for a fuse to blow , but, I would guess either your power supply circuit or horizontal output circuit may be drawing too much current %26amp; taking the fuse out.

If you are anyways handy around this stuff, you can visually look inside the tv %26amp; check for possibly bad connections or any signs of excess heat or scorching on the pc board.

It may require a some more intense troubleshooting which may require a service call.

Do you know how to re-wire the current wires into the new box. They may not be compatible and they my not be clearly marked, so you could cross wires, etc.

Like someone metioned, if there is any local building authority, or when the house is inspected at time of sale, you may have to redo the whole thing.

I seems odd to the amature, but once you replace an item, the entire new project has to be up to current code.

How to change electronic fuse in a 2001 S430 (W220) Mercedes Benz?

The electronic fuses in the W220 S Class have no serviceable parts. The %26quot;fuses%26quot; which are actually transistorized circuits that detect overload condition and switch off automatically, have property of self-resetting when the overload condition is gone.

Therefore, if a circuit protected by %26quot;electronic%26quot; fuse is not getting any power, then either the receiver still has short circuit/open circuit condition (yes! these are detected as well) or the output stage (the transistor or driver chip) in the electronic module has failed.

It would be helpful if you would state which kind of receiver you have trouble with.

Contrary to the other answer, there is NO dangerous voltages around the fuse boxes in the car (although they are present in few other places - ignition system, inside instrument cluster and so on). Accidental or deliberate contact with live conductor under such a low voltage (12v) is not likely to cause any harm. How to change electronic fuse in a 2001 S430 (W220) Mercedes Benz?Open your bonnet/hood, look anywhere near where the engine bay is close to the windshield/windscreen. Try to spot the fuses box; open it and look (maybe) under its cover, you should find a card with a list of all the fuses (numbered/labeled and what components they connect. Then look at the fuses themselves, they are all numbered/labeled.

To change them, simply lift them out of their spring-loaded terminals. Be careful, high voltages live in the area.

You can now just pull hard to remove it completely.

The fuse box is now fully accessible.Where is the fuse box to change the fuse for the heater in a ford mondeo %26amp; how do you get into it???Had an %26quot;R%26quot; reg, there were I think 2 fuse boxes. 1 under the steering column and another under the glove compartment.Better get a Haynes manual for your year.Where is the fuse box to change the fuse for the heater in a ford mondeo %26amp; how do you get into it???fuse box is as everyone said under glove box,it,s green,30amp,..could be relay, same location,r14,,yellow colour,..take heater unit out of car, reach up and grip blower unit twist %26amp; it will come off,get some one to test it on a battery.if fuse is blown,it.s likely the heater unit is faultyWhere is the fuse box to change the fuse for the heater in a ford mondeo %26amp; how do you get into it???If you've got the owners manual it should all be in there.Where is the fuse box to change the fuse for the heater in a ford mondeo %26amp; how do you get into it???Be careful when removing the glovebox as it may break if you use too much force. I am sure it is in the manual somewhere.

If you can't find it, perhaps a trip to the library will help. It doesn't cost anything to check.

As for the little plastic %26quot;tweezers%26quot;, they do suck don't they. Better to use a pair of needle-nosed pliers, or if you have a pair use some hemostats. They work very well.

If you choose this method, you should remove only one at a time, check it, and replace it. When you find the burned one, it is very easy to see.

As for on-line help, the information you need is very expensive, and costs the repair manual publishers dearly for the license to use it. The manufacturers won't give it away, and there aren't many who will pay for it, and then offer it on the %26quot;Net at no cost.

How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws?

sorry i don't know any simpler way to put this haha.

i'm no good with electronics! How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws?A UK electrical plug? Most sealed ones have a little hatch on the underside; flick it up and pull out the old fuse. Don't forget to check for problems, if the new fuse blows too it indicates a fault with the appliance. How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws?Simply pull the fuse out and replace it. U can look at it and see if the contacts r broken. Also they don't have screws, I bought a plastic (looks like tweezers) to pull fuses out and then I push the new one back in with my fingers. Make sure u look at the old one and see if it is a 5 or etc fuse and buy the same amp and push it in. Good luck, hope this helped. If I didn't answer it right, I would be very enlightened on what to do.How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws? You probably have a plug that is moulded onto the lead. A lot of appliances come with these.

Normally there is a little flap that you can prise open with a small (electrician's) screwdriver. If you can find this and open it then the fuse will be inside and you can take it out and replace it. Always fit a new fuse the same rating as the old one.

If you cannot find the flap then you are unlucky and have one of the fully sealed plugs. They are sealed units so there is not much that you can do with them. If you are absolutely certain that the fault is the mains fuse then you'll have to cut the plug off and replace it with a new one. Plugs are still sold in most hardware shops.

If you replace the plug make sure that you connect the wires to the correct terminals.

Brown = Live (that's the terminal with the fuse attached),

    blue = neutral,

green/yellow = earth (the biggest pin).

The terminals inside the new plug will have labels %26quot;L%26quot; (live) and %26quot;N%26quot; (neutral) moulded into the plastic near them.

The incoming wires must be securely clamped by the little gripper at the entrance to the plug. Only strip back enough of the insulation to enable you to connect the wires, it's not safe to have too much bare wire inside a plug. How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws?Sorry, but you are going to have to do better than that, because I don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about. Plug for what? How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws?I'm not sure what you are talking about either.

Some plugs have reset button(red) on them, I'm guessing this not one of those plugs.

If one of your plugs is not working maybe your circuit breaker tripped. Go to your main electric box and flip the switch to on position. You don't have to be an electrician to do this. If it doesn't go to on position push it to off position then on. If it keeps tripping you might have a short some where, and you might have get it fixed by some one who can find the problem. How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws? If it is a GFCI Ground fault curcuit interupter it has a red button on it and are usually installed where water is being used nearby so if it gets wet it will trip your breaker. If so just replace it it is inexpensive to do. If not comfortable doing the work yourself you might find a friend who can help you.How do you change the fuse in a plug that has no screws? If you are referring to a cartridge fuse with brass ends - it is important to disconnect the power to this fuse. There is a fiber/insulated fuse puller for this fuse.

Care must be taken when installing a new one since there will be an arc if the short is still attached that caused the fuse blow to start with.

Also - this type fuse is not always easy to determine if it is really blown by sight

How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light?

I have replaced the bulbs and the light will not work. Hubby says fuse needs to be replaced but I dont know how to do it. And he wont do it for me...always at work or too tired! Thanks for your help!!!How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light?Fluorescent lights do not contain fuses. They contain a device called a ballast, which is a black brick-shaped device with a number of wires coming out; these occasionally fail, and can be replaced: new ones cost $10 to $20, depending on type. But a more plausible failure point is the starter, which is a small aluminum cylindrical can-shaped device, about an inch long and 3/4 inch in diameter. NOTE: many fixtures do not use starters, as the necessary functionality is provided by the ballast. But if yours does, try replacing it: turn the device about 1/8 turn to the left, and it will come out. It will have a designation such as FS-4 on it; get a replacement with the same designation. Starters are cheap. If replacing the starter does not work, or there isn't one, replace the ballast: remove the old one (cut the wires that go to the lamps about in the middle of each wire, and unscrew the wire nuts that secure the black and white wires to the power supply) and take it to the hardware store for a suitable replacement. To install the new one, you will need some wire nuts to connect the wires from the new ballast to the old lamp socket wires. How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light?remove the lights, the fuse is round made of metal, unscrew it Turning counterclockwise, replace with one same type. How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light?Just unscrew it and take it to a hardware store and buy a replacement fuse and go home and screw it back in.How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light? Not all fluorescent fixtures have fuses. Most modern fluorescent fixtures only have ballasts and sometimes starter capacitors. Since you have replaced the bulbs you can eliminate them but you probably should take the ballast out and go to a good hardware store and ask a knowledgeable associate for help. More than likely it is the ballast that has failed.

Look into other options also. Often a new fixture is a cheaper option than replacing the ballast. Keep your options open. How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light?A fluorescent light does not have a fuse. Older models have starters. The starter is a small silver cylinder that has 2 prongs on the end that makes the connection with the light. Just twist counterclockwise and remove. Replace it with the same starter. The number of the starter is stamped on the side, such as FS2, etc.How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light? Why not just replace the fixture and be done?! Fixtures are so cheap these days! How do you change the fuse in a flourescent light? There is most likely no fuse in the light itself. Plug something else into the receptacle to check and see if the circuit breaker or fuse is blown. A radio works well for this. If there is power, the circuit is good and the problem is with the light fixture. If the circuit is dead, find the electrical panel. Unless you are in a really old building, the circuits will be protected by breakers rather than fuses. If there is a fuse, the blown one will be identifiable by finding the one with a visibly open conductor (look through the glass in the center). Unscrew it and replace it with a new on of the same amperage. If it is a breaker, on some types the lever moves to the center when tripped. Move it to the off position to reset (usually towards the outside edge of the panel and then turn it to the %26quot;on%26quot; position. If the light fixture is the problem, it is most likely the ballast. You can get a replacement at the hardware store (get the exact lable information from the old one). Unplug the light or turn off the circuit at the panel. Unhook one wire at a time and reconnect the new ballastHow do you change the fuse in a flourescent light?Probably a bad ballast. Shame on Hubby for not taking care of this for you. Replacement of the ballast is very simple because all wires are color coded.

  • Wrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this?

I have a house built in the 1950s. It has a fuse box. I was changing fuses the other night to resolve a problem and at one point I removed a 20 amp fuse and went to replace it with another 20 amp fuse - problem is I was holding a 15 amp fuse. When the 15 amp fuse got close to the 20 amp socket I saw a spark fly. At which point I pulled the fuse back, realized what I did and promptly installed the correct 20 amp fuse. All bedroom ceiling lights and regular outlets associated with this line no longer work. Is there a way to fix this? Note: This fuse box besides having fuses also has some large shotgun like shell %26quot;fuses%26quot; I guess. Thanks!Wrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this?Dear Sparky,

Old fuses are much like a light bulb. The only reason they do not emit light is that the element inside is designed to break contact instead of overheat and glow. The spark was not caused by screwing in the wrong %26quot;wattage bulb%26quot;. You screwed a light bulb in with the switch on is what happened. Perhaps turning off the switch before replacing the bulb is a good idea. Unplug or turn off all fixtures associated with that fuse. Replace the fuse again. Check the circuit. Still nothing? ... Call a repairman or ask me directly by e-mail by going to my site (link below) I'll walk you through it step by step if it means your home will be safe and no one will get hurt.Wrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this?okWrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this?power check is needed, but u may have blown a (shotgun) cartrige fuse. please be xtra carefull. if you have doubts call some1. u can contact me 4 more advice.Wrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this? You probably blew one of the main stick fuses that feeds one side of the box. It fed the side that your 20 amp screw fuse is on. Get a flashlight and go to the fuse box.

Shut off the main box (pull handle down) and then remove both stick fuses. * Prior to this purchase 2 new stick fuses - take one to a hardware store to make sure you get the right fuse.

Replace both stick fuses and also your 20 amp fuse with new ones.

    * Have you added anything new to the bedroom circuits such as a space heater, or other appliance? If so unplug these and turn off the bedroom lights in the room where they went off.

Now throw the on/off lever back up on your main box and see if that solves the problem.Wrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this?Well, you have blown more fuses. The %26quot;shotgun%26quot; types - you describe (LOL)...... is really another fuse for your washer/dryer and or cooking oven /hot plates.

You have to replace them too. Check other fuses.

Replacing with 15 amp instead of 20 amp does not cause major damage - except that when you went to replace the fuse, the appliance was left on. So, it was sucking up juice worth 20 amp while your fuse blew when you had a 15 amp. No major damage done.

Check all fuses and replace as necessary. You are good to go.Wrong fuse installed in home fuse box - lights don't work. How do I fix this?Call a qualified professional electrician, this is probably a bad cartridge fuse, but you may have some other very serious problems in the panel or in your branch circuits. This project needs an experienced, qualified professional to do the work. Since you still have a fuse panel, it may be time to consider a major overhaul to your system. The insulation on the wire from the '50's does deteriorate over the years, it was designed for 30-40 years and it may need a complete upgrade.

How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?

My house has 100-amp service, but with fuses instead of circuit breakers. I would like to change the fuse box to a circuit breaker panel. There are 12 circuits plus a 240V for the range and one for the central air.How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box? This is not a DYI job.

It takes an expierenced electrician to do it right and up to code a min of 4 hours. This includes new everything from the meter down. Also grounding to two ground rods and bonding the water system. (and in some places the gas pipe)

A lot of times, if you are going to even get into the meter socket (box) you will need to replace that too. In my area that is free from the power company.

Don't be cheap on this one. Pay an electrican to do it.How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?Takes me about 3 hours for 1 this size. Sometimes you run into right much woodwork though due to panels being different sizes. Most newer panels are bigger and framing needs to be reworked. Also, some places will not allow replacing the panel without upgrading the service to bring in line with current codes. I wouldn't recommend it as a DIY job, but I don't know your skills. How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?mine took 2 days (actually 3, but one day was for new drop and basically upgrade from 100 to 200amp). because old box was no up to code, so it was turned into a splice point aka junction box and all circuits had to be relocated to the new area of the basement all together. Considering I had 26 circuits it was quite a job, not to mention concrete drilling and etc to put conduit. Basically rewiring a box is not that big of a deal it's how convenient and easy for the new panel mount. How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?It depends on how much difficulty the electrician will have removing the old panel and then installing the new one. 4-8 hours for an estimate. The circuit change is the easy part, the panel and the feeds and the different circuits take time to do it right. How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?4 to 8 hours, depending on difficulty. This is not a DIY job! Call a licensed professional, or don't do it. Insurance company will not honor a claim if you do it yourself and burn the house down. How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?Seems to me you are wasting your time and money. If you don't need to upgrade your service amps, there really isn't a good reason to go to circuit breakers. You still have all the same inherent dangers of an old two wire system. How long does it take to change a fuse box to a circuit breaker box?A good electrician could do this in about 4 hours. If your going to do this yourself, tell me were and when I want to watch.
